"What is a human being in relation to the world as a whole? The core theme for Júlia Csapó's solo exhibition is the phenomenological registers of perception. The body is a semi-permeable membrane that allows the world to pass through it, thus making it knowable, and enables the subject to influence its surroundings. From this perspective, existence, believed to be ontologically solid, is merely a construction, a continuous process of transformation.
The exhibition Membrana Mundi focuses on the processes of artistic research and visual thinking, while the works created in a variety of media all explore how we can relate to the body in an affective, self-aware way and how this can create a resonant relationship with the surrounding world. Csapó's installations, objects, and paintings offer an experience that seeks the possibility of genuine connection even in a social environment burdened by the biopolitical exploitation of the body. Visitors are gently invited to observe themselves and their environment through their bodies and conscious perception, while the biological individual is presented not as a closed unit, but as an open, phenomenal being." - Kata Martincsák
